Our goals are:

  • To increase interns' interest in and awareness of the special needs, problems, and strengths of Asian American communities and to encourage interns to enter health and allied health professions in areas of community need.
  • To provide exposure to health care delivery in the community health center setting.
  • To help interns develop a better understanding of themselves as individuals and as important contributing members of minority communities.

The program consists of:

  • Seminars and workshops
  • Development and implementation of a community health group project on a predetermined topic

Requirements:

  • Currently an undergraduate student in their second, third, or fourth year of college
  • Interested in health care and the Asian American community
  • Time commitment: Monday– Friday, 9am–5pm, including some early mornings & weekends. Please understand that due to the uncertainty of the ongoing pandemic, we will require some flexibility.
  • We cannot accommodate international students or students who are studying temporarily in the United States with the intention of returning home after completing their studies.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, we plan to take all necessary precautions. While it is possible that next year’s program could follow a fully in-person format, we are also planning for the possibility of operating a hybrid curriculum that includes both in-person and remote activities. It’s also possible that we will default to a strictly virtual program if need be. Please understand that due to the uncertainty of the ongoing pandemic, we will require some flexibility.
